Jean-Pierre Cloutier found a nice and concrete example showing how bloggers are increasingly recognized as being part (and influencers of) the media landscape:
When it comes to blogging, it seems, every publisher has a strong opinion. But for those who troll for traffic to their magazine’s site, well-read blogs are often some of the top referring sources, leading some magazines to “nurture” the blogs that do.
[…] “We’re nurturing the influencers,” said Ron Diorio, senior producer, Economist.com. “Everyone is a blog writer. They are beginning to influence mainstream media. So we identified the blogs that talk about politics and business and we gave them all free subscriptions to our site.”
Let’s hope our local media are listening.
